SHOTGUN COUNTYWIDE PROJECT
What you can do in this project:
- Learn the basic safety procedures with shotgun handling
- Learn shooting fundamentals
- Learn the proper way to carry a shotgun
Ages: Only youth 12 years old and above can shoot powder burning guns
Cost: $30 per youth member (cash or check made out to Ozaukee County 4-H Leaders Association should be brought to first meeting)
Equipment Needed: Must provide 2 copies of your hunter safety certificate/card if you are new to the .22 rifle/shotgun projects. Additional copies may be required for tournaments. Youth should provide their own 20 gauge or 12 gauge shotguns that they are comfortable using. Modified or full choke is recommended. All guns will be inspected before use.
Project Meetings Location: We will be shooting at the Saukville Gun Club. Take Hwy 33 to Blue Goose Rd. (west of County Road I). Turn north and the club is at the end of road. Outside range – dress accordingly.
2024 Dates:
- Sundays- April 14 from 12:30 – 3:00 pm.
- Sundays- April 21 & 28 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.
- Sundays- May 5, 12 & 19 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.
Required Forms:
All forms and dues must be brought to the first meeting. Youth who are missing forms or fees will not be able to shoot that day. All items must be turned in, in order to shoot. No exceptions.
Each member must submit the Shotgun Rules form, the project fee, and 2 copies of their Hunters Safety Certificate if you are new to the .22 rifle/shotgun projects.:

If you were in the rifle project, you only need to send in your dues.

Shooting Sports Leader Certification
A statewide Shooting Sports Leader Certification workshop will be held to teach leaders how to conduct safe, supervised, shooting experiences for 4-H members enrolled in shooting sports projects and to complete required leader certification.
A Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports Leader may be certified in archery, coordinator, muzzleloader, pistol, rifle and shotgun disciplines. Leaders may only teach in the discipline in which they are certified. An adult leader cannot provide hands-on or safety instruction without a certified leader supervising the range.
All leaders must first complete one 12-hour workshop to be certified. After that, you may be eligible to attend a Saturday, eight-hour range workshop to receive an additional discipline certification. If three years lapse before adding an additional certification, the full 12-hour certification must be repeated. Only one certification may be obtained at any one certification workshop.
