UW Madison Division of Extension — Ozaukee County is proud to announce that Professor Paul Roback was recently recognized with the 2025 UW-Madison Van Hise Outreach Teaching Award, named after Charles Van Hise. UW President Van Hise developed the doctrine known today as the Wisconsin Idea: the guiding philosophy of UW-Madison’s outreach efforts to extend the borders of the university to touch the lives of people throughout Wisconsin.

Roback is an Ozaukee County based Division of Extension Community Development Educator and has been connecting individuals and organizations to UW-Madison for over 23 years. He has a national reputation for teaching and is a leader in his field of organizational development. Roback has taught over 1,800 learners and conducted training for over 100 nonprofits and local governments. Professor Roback is only the second county-based Extension educator to receive this prestigious award since it was established in 1990.
