The Ozaukee County 4-H Horse and Pony Project is taking bold steps toward a stronger future by launching a youth-adult strategic planning process focused on inclusion, engagement, and long-term success.
Following a series of educator-led surveys, both youth and adult members identified key areas for improvement, including clearer communication, stronger youth voice, and more intentional leadership practices. Rather than shy away from these challenges, the club leaned in—committing to a collaborative approach that centers youth empowerment and shared decision-making.
With support from the 4-H Educator, the club is actively developing a three-year strategic plan designed to grow membership, improve retention, and foster a more positive, connected club culture. Youth leaders are stepping up in meaningful ways, helping shape the club’s goals, vision, and action steps.
This effort reflects the best of what 4-H stands for: creating opportunities for young people to lead, grow, and make a difference in their communities. By building stronger partnerships between youth and adults, the Horse and Pony Project is not only strengthening its own program—it’s creating a sustainable future for its members and volunteers to continue “To Make the Best Better!”
