Honoring Service, Leadership and Community: 2025 Leaders Banquet

Ozaukee County 4-H volunteers gathered on November 15, 2025, for an evening dedicated to recognizing the people who keep our program strong. The annual Leaders Banquet brought together project leaders, club leaders, board members, and community partners for a night centered on gratitude, reflection, and well-deserved celebration.

This year’s banquet highlighted the individuals and businesses that made a significant impact on 4-H youth, projects, and countywide programs. Several awards were presented to honor these contributions:

Friend of 4-H Awards
Two community partners were honored for their exceptional support of 4-H:

  • Ryan “Fig” Figarino, Head of Operations at the Ozaukee County Fairgrounds, received the Friend of 4-H Award for his unwavering support, reliability, and hands-on partnership with 4-H events throughout the year. His work behind the scenes ensures the success of programs held at the fairgrounds, from horse shows to The Haunt.
  • Tello’s Grille and Catering, owned by Angel Tello, was also recognized as a Friend of 4-H for generously donating sixty $20 gift certificates—totaling $1,200—for the 2025 Business Awards. Their ongoing support and public recognition of 4-H youth projects have brought greater awareness to the program.

4-H Leadership Recognition Awards
These awards honor outstanding leaders who consistently go above and beyond in service to the Ozaukee County 4-H Program:

  • Heather Hamm, Holy Cross 4-H Club, was celebrated for her dedication to youth development and her leadership of the Dairy and Sheep projects. Her signature effort—the Parade of Champions at the Ozaukee County Fair—continues to be a highlight of the year thanks to her organization, creativity, and commitment to making youth feel recognized.
  • Rick Lee, Lindenwood 4-H Club, received the award for his longstanding behind-the-scenes contributions. From supporting The Haunt, to repair work, to stepping in at countywide events when needed, Rick’s reliability and calm presence have supported youth and volunteers across multiple project areas for years.
  • Cindy and Heather Reetz, Town & Country 4-H Club, were honored for their longtime leadership of the Cake Decorating Project and their service on the annual Bowl-a-Thon Committee. Their consistent efforts help create meaningful project experiences for youth and raise funds for scholarships and educational opportunities.

Years of Service Recognition
The banquet also recognized volunteers celebrating milestone years of service. Certificates and pins were awarded to individuals marking 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and even 50 years of dedication to 4-H youth development. These leaders represent every club across the county and play a crucial role in teaching leadership, citizenship, and life skills.

Outgoing Board Member Appreciation
Special thanks were extended to outgoing Leaders Association board members Danielle Gettelman and Deb Poull for their commitment and leadership.

Along with the awards, the banquet recognized the collaborative work of the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation and thanked all volunteers for another year of service. Camaraderie and shared stories rounded out a warm evening celebrating the people who keep Ozaukee County 4-H thriving.

As the program looks ahead to 2026, the banquet served as a reminder of how much impact a strong volunteer community can make. The dedication, generosity, and creativity of our leaders are what continue to elevate the 4-H experience for youth across the county.

It was a well-deserved night of recognition for a group that truly makes the best better.
