Countywide Fishing Project

What you can do in this project:

  • Overview of common freshwater fish species
  • Fishing knots and various types of fishing equipment – fishing lines, reels, rods, and more
  • Fishing lures and lure presentation to target certain fish species
  • General Wisconsin fishing laws
  • Introduction to different ways to fish

Grades: 3-12

Equipment Needed: Fishing pole for outings noted below.

2025-2026 Dates:

  • February 24 – 5:45-7:15 pm., Fairgrounds Pavilion South
    • Guest speaker – DNR fisheries biologist
  • March 31 – 5:45-7:15 pm., Fairgrounds Pavilion North
    • Learn about local fish species
  • April 28 – 5:45 – 7:15 pm., Fairgrounds Pavilion North
    • Make an in line spinner, materials & tools provided
  • June 6 – 10:00 – Noon, location TBD.
    • Fishing outing: fishing pole required, however, bait provided
  • July 11 – 10:00 – Noon, location TBD.
    • Fishing outing: fishing pole required, however, bait provided
