Ozaukee 4-H Foundation Scholarships
The Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation awarded several scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Each applicant represented their own unique brand of accomplishments in the program. The applicants should take pride in all they’ve accomplished in their 4-H years, and we wish them well as they enter the world of higher education.
Maria Lee – 2023 Recipient
The recipient of the 2023 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Badger Meter Scholarship for $2,000 is Maria Lee of the Lindenwood 4-H Club. Her parents are Richard and Deanna Lee. This scholarship was the first to be established by the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation and was given in honor of Mr. Jack Janik of the Badger Meter Corporation. Jack was a founding member of the 4-H Foundation Board. It is given to the most outstanding applicant as determined by the scholarship panel. Maria is a 13 year 4-H member, starting as a Kindergarten clover bud. She has held almost every officer leadership position within her club, some multiple times. She is the current VP of the Ozaukee Co. 4-H Leader’s Association, and Miss Ozaukee. Maria is the 4-H Open House Coordinator, Communications Festival Co-Coordinator, Livestock Association Sheep Youth Representative, Dairy Group Youth Representative, and serves on 4-H Camp staff and the Haunt Committee. She was selected for Space Camp, American Spirit and National Agriculture Summit trips. She has helped at practically every event put on by Ozaukee County 4-H. Maria’s projects have included Archery, Dairy, Leather Craft, Auctioneering, Sheep, Photography, Shotgun, Woodworking, Quilting, Bees, Tie-dye and Youth Leadership. She has also shown as a junior exhibitor at the WI State Fair for some of these projects. Maria is a split- enrolled high honors, National Honor Society student at Homestead High School and attends Random Lake High School for the opportunity to be a part of agriculture course work and FFA program. She serves on the Homestead Student Council, is a captain of the Varsity Lacrosse team, serves as a Random Lake FFA officer and has been selected in two categories to continue to compete at the state FFA convention in June. Maria also cantors at Lumen Christi Church. Maria will be forever thankful for the adults and leaders within 4-H who have helped her get to this point in her life. She will be attending South Dakota State University to major in Precision Agriculture and minor in Animal Sciences and Agronomy. Timothy Gierach – 2023 Recipient
The recipient of the 2023 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation S. Duane Stroebel Scholarship for $1,200 is Tim Gierach of Lindenwood 4-H Club. His parents are Bob and Amy Gierach. This scholarship is given in memory of Mr. S. Duane Stroebel. Mr. Stroebel was an agricultural enthusiast and an ardent supporter of the Ozaukee County 4-H program. It is to be given to an outstanding candidate who exemplifies the values of the 4-H program. As a dedicated member of the Lindenwood 4-H Club for 10 years, Tim has demonstrated a passion for various projects, including Woodworking, Leathercraft, Woodburning, Shotgun, Beef, Sheep, and Youth Leadership. In addition to actively participating in these projects, Tim has held numerous leadership positions within the club, such as Club President, Club Planning Committee member, and Secretary. His leadership skills have played a exciting role in shaping the future direction of the club. Tim’s active involvement extends beyond his club, as he participates in county-wide events. Whether it’s contributing to the Communications Festival, Bowl-A-Thon, Ambassadors, Livestock Association, Open House, or participating in volleyball and softball tournaments. Currently serving as Mr. Ozaukee, he stands as a role model for his peers, symbolizing leadership and community involvement. Tim has been actively involved in various community service activities. Whether working on the family dairy farm, participating in the Adopt-a-Highway program, serving as a church acolyte, or showcasing his talents as a drama performer, Tim continuously seeks opportunities to give back to his community and make a positive impact. Tim’s academic journey will lead him to MATC, where he plans to pursue Business Management studies while supplementing his knowledge with appropriate agricultural courses. With the S. Duane Stroebel Memorial Scholarship, Tim is well-equipped to further his understanding of the connection between business and agriculture. The Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation congratulates Tim for this well-deserved honor.
Sarah Mann – 2023 Recipient
The recipient of the 2023 Richard and Diane Omdahl Family Scholarship for $1,200 is given to Sarah Mann of the Cloverleaf 4-H Club. Her parents are Christopher and Jennifer Mann. Diane Omdahl believes that the 4-H program is what has helped shape her life, the lives of her daughters and grandsons. Diane and her late husband Richard established this family scholarship to give back to the 4-H program that helps so many. As a dedicated member of the Cloverleaf 4-H Club for seven years, Sarah Mann has excelled in various leadership roles within the organization. Serving as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Report leader. Furthermore, Sarah has taken on the role of Youth Leader, providing guidance and support to fellow members in projects such as Poultry, Photography, and Exploring. Sarah’s involvement in numerous county-wide activities such as organizing The Haunt to participating in events like Cops & Kids Day and Project Bunny, Sarah has made a significant impact on the local community. Her contributions extend beyond the club level, as she has actively served on the board of directors for both The Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation and 4-H Haunt. Recognizing the invaluable leadership skills she has developed through 4-H, Sarah acknowledges its vital role in preparing her for the future. Graduating high school early, she is currently working three jobs at Blain’s Farm and Fleet, Riverview Kennel, and a local horse barn, diligently saving money for her future education. Sarah’s unwavering determination and passion for personal growth have led her to the University of South Alabama, where she will pursue a degree in Business Management, accompanied by a minor in German Language and Culture. With this scholarship in hand, Sarah is poised to excel in her chosen field and continue her journey as a future leader. Lydia Loupee – 2023 Recipient
The recipient of the 2023 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation State Bank of Newburg Scholarship for $1200 is Lydia Loupee of Covered Bridge 4-H Club. Her mother is Christina Loupee. The State Bank of Newburg takes pride in the community it serves. Not only are they committed to providing excellent customer service inside their doors, but they extend that service into the community as seen by this scholarship. Throughout her 10-year involvement with the Covered Bridge 4-H Club, Lydia has displayed commitment in taking part in an impressive selection of projects, such as Sheep, Jewelry Making, Knitting, Cake Decorating, Clothing, and Candle Making, she has acquired a assorted skill set and an appreciation for the arts and crafts. Lydia’s passion for sharing her knowledge and expertise with younger members is evident through her role as a youth leader for Cloverbud, Candy Making, Knitting, and Jewelry Making. By conveying these valuable skills, she not only raises a sense of creativity but also serves as an inspiration to the next generation of 4-H youth. Beyond her contributions to the Covered Bridge 4-H Club, Lydia is actively involved in a multitude of community events and activities such as participation in Bunny Breakfast, Open House, Leadership Banquet, Clothing Revue, Summer Camp, Executive Board Youth Liaison, and Fall Forum. Outside of her involvement in 4-H, Lydia maintains a range of interests. With a passion for music, she dedicates her time to learning multiple instruments, including the piano, violin, and flute. Additionally, Lydia showcases her talents as a member of the Living Word Band and the Living Word Basic Worship Team. Lydia’s future aspirations revolve around pursuing an entrepreneurial program in college, although she is currently undecided about her major. She is poised to thrive in any chosen field. Courtney Rathke – 2023 Recipient
The recipient of the new 2023 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation LaBudde Group scholarship in the amount of $1200 is Courtney Rathke. Her parents are Steve and Jackie Rathke. The LaBudde group, with over a century of experience in the animal feed industry, recognizes the importance of supporting a 4-H scholarship for Ozaukee County. Despite the county’s limited agricultural size, LaBudde acknowledges the significance of 4-H in fostering understanding and meeting the agricultural needs of both humans and animals. The new ownership group, is eager to contribute to the future of agriculture. The LaBudde scholarship is in its inaugural year will be given to a deserving young individual actively involved in 4-H and considering further education in an agricultural field. Courtney, a remarkable individual with a decade-long commitment to the Little Kohler 4-H Club, her deep-rooted involvement in 4-H began at an early age, shaping her into an outstanding member of the organization. Throughout her 4-H career, Courtney has taken on President, Vice President, and Treasurer of her club. The span of Courtney’s projects includes Beef, Rabbits, and Sheep to Home Environment, Arts, Photography, and Foods, which demonstrates her desire for learning various areas of interest. Courtney’s active participation in events such as the Variety Show, Bowl-a-Thon, softball and volleyball tournaments, and her contributions as the Youth Director on the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation, Livestock Association youth representative, and involvement in the 4-H Haunt, highlight her commitment to 4-H. Courtney’s accomplishments extend beyond her 4-H involvement. She has achieved recognition as a WI State Fair exhibitor and a World Beef Expo exhibitor, participated in the State and National Shorthorn Jr. Show showcasing her passion for agriculture. Beyond her 4-H career, Courtney is involved in FFA, Basketball, Cross Country, and Track. Additionally, she is a member of the National Honor Society, the American Shorthorn Association, and the American Angus Association. With a solid commitment to her education and a passion for animal science, Courtney plans to attend UW Milwaukee/Washington County to pursue her Associate’s degree before transferring to UW Platteville to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, with an emphasis on Meat. The 4-H Foundation congratulates Courtney on being the first recipient of the Labudde Group Scholarship.
Kylie Gahan – 2023 Recipient
The recipient of the 2023 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Janice and Tom Bublitz Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1200 is Kylie Gahan of Lakeview 4-H Club. Her mother is Monica Gahan. This new scholarship, named in honor of Tom and Janice Bublitz, has been established to commemorate the remarkable legacy left behind by this beloved couple. Their children, deeply moved by their parents’ profound impact on their lives and the lives of the 4-H youth, have generously donated the funds for this scholarship in their memory. This scholarship not only honors their memory but also aims to empower and uplift deserving individuals who embody the values and virtues that were dear to Tom and Janice’s hearts. Kylie, a 10-year member of the Lakeview 4-H Club, has left a mark on the organization through her leadership and project involvements. Her 4-H career has seen her hold positions such as Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian within her club, showcasing her organizational skills and commitment to the 4-H community. Throughout her 4-H journey, Kylie has explored countless projects, including Beef, Horse and Pony, Candy Making, Cake Decorating, Home Environment, and Photography, among others. Her dedication to honing her skills and exploring various areas of interest has undoubtedly contributed to her personal growth and development as a well-rounded individual. Beyond her club engagements, Kylie has eagerly participated in a range of 4-H activities and events, such as attending 4-H camp, contributing to The Haunt, attending the Bowl-a-Thon, volleyball tournament, and the Communications Festival. These experiences have enriched her 4-H journey and strengthened her confidence in public speaking. Outside of her involvement in 4-H, Kylie actively participates in Basketball and Track and Field. Kylie attributes many valuable life skills to her time in 4-H. From patience and active listening to fostering a respect for others’ opinions, she has acquired a useful toolkit that extends beyond the organization. Additionally, 4-H has equipped her with practical life skills, including financial knowledge through balancing a checkbook and the ability to confidently address an audience. Driven by her passion for helping others, Kylie has set her sights on pursuing a career in Nursing at South Dakota State University. Armed with the invaluable skills and experiences gained through her involvement in 4-H, she is poised to make a lasting impact in the healthcare field. Congratulations Kylie on becoming the first recipient of the Tom and Janice Bublitz Memorial Scholarship.
Abigail Garvey – 2022 Recipient
The recipient of the 2022 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Badger Meter Scholarship for $2,400 is Abigail Garvey of the Cloverleaf 4-H Club. Her parents are Eric and Vicki Garvey. This scholarship was the first to be established by the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation and was given in honor of Mr. Jack Janik of the Badger Meter Corporation. Jack was a founding member of the 4-H Foundation Board. It is given to the most outstanding applicant as determined by the scholarship panel. Abigail is a 9-year Cloverleaf 4-H member. She has held Club President and Secretary positions. Abby attended American Spirit East Trip, Art Camp, Winter Leadership and Youth Conference. She has helped at many parades, the haunt, Bunny Breakfast and 4-H Camp Counselor. Abby is currently Miss Ozaukee. Abby’s projects have included Clothing, Home Environment, Photography, Crocheting, Poultry, Goats and many more. Abby wrote, coordinated and directed her clubs Variety show acts. Abby’s community involvement includes Captain of the Forensics team, National Honors Society, and a Lake Shore Dance performer for 15 years. Abby attended a 4-H Youth Conference in Madison, where she learned about careers in legislation. This is what initially sparked her interest in government work. She will be attending UW Madison to pursue a double major in Political Science and Economics. Congratulations Abby on being awarded the 2022 Badger Meter Scholarship.
Amy Jentges – 2022 Recipient
The recipient of the 2022 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation S. Duane Stroebel Scholarship for $2,000 is Amy Jentges of Little Kohler 4-H Club. Her parents are Margaret and the late Gary Jentges. This scholarship is given in memory of Mr. S. Duane Stroebel. Mr. Stroebel was an agricultural and an ardent supporter of the Ozaukee County 4-H program. It is to be given to an outstanding candidate who exemplifies the values of the 4-H program. Amy certainly fits the bill! Amy is a 11-year member of the Little Kohler 4-H Club. She has been involved with the Beef, Dairy, Swine, Jewelry, Youth leadership, and Wisconsin Agricultural projects. She has held several leadership positions including President, Dairy & Livestock Representative, Miss Ozaukee 2021, Communications Festival & Open House Youth Coordinator. She was able to travel to Space Camp, American Spirit, and Leadership Camp. In addition to numerous activities within 4-H, Amy has been active in FFA, Wisconsin Pig Show, and church mission trips and Wisconsin state Fair Discovery Barnyard. Agriculture is at the core of her values and these organizations have shaped her skills and influenced the start of her career path. Amy will be attending UW River Falls to study Agricultural Education and Agricultural Marketing Communications. Well done, Amy! Best wishes to you as you pursue your higher education!
Jacob Peacy – 2022 Recipient
The recipient of the 2022 Richard and Diane Omdahl Family Scholarship for $2,000 is given to Jacob Peacy of the Knellsville 4-H Club. His parents are Angie Peacy and Mike Peacy. Diane Omdahl believes that the 4-H program is what has helped shape her life, the lives of her daughters and grandsons. Diane and her late husband Richard established this family scholarship to give back to the 4-H program that helps so many. Jacob is a 12-year member of the Knellsville 4-H Club. He has been Club Vice President, Secretary, Games Committee, Cloverbud Youth leader. Jacob’s projects have included Photography, Woodworking, Rocketry, Dairy, Legos, and many more. Jacob is currently Mr. Ozaukee, and has been involved with county wide activities such as the Pinewood Derby, The Haunt, 4-H Camp, and Ambassadors. Outside of 4-H, Jacob has earned his Eagle Scout, National Honor Society, and Varsity Wrestling. Jacob will be pursuing a career in either the education field or computer sciences, he would also like to become a wrestling coach. Eva Hernandez – 2022 Recipient
The recipient of the 2022 State Bank of Newburg Scholarship for $2,000 is given to Eva Hernandez of Cloverleaf 4-H Club. Her parents are Gilberto and Michelle Hernandez. The State Bank of Newburg takes pride in the community it serves. Not only are they committed to providing excellent customer service inside their doors, but they extend that service into the community as seen by this scholarship. Eva is a 9 year 4-H member of Cloverleaf 4-H Club. Eva has been club Treasurer and, Clover Café Junior Manager. She has taken Personal Finance, Art, Clothing, Candle & Jewelry Making and many more projects. As the Cloverbud youth leader, this has helped her realize her passion for teaching. Children are the future of this world, and being able to help shape their path is what excites her. Outside of 4-H she is involved in Cheer, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and Global Scholars. Eva will be attending UW Whitewater majoring in Elementary Education. Congratulations Eva on being the recipient of the State Bank of Newburg Scholarship.
Jessica Mejchar – 2021 Recipient
The recipient of the 2021 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Badger Meter Scholarship for $1,475 is Jessica Mejchar of the Jay Road 4-H Club. Her parents are James Mejchar and Teri Mejchar. This scholarship was the first to be established by the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation and was given in honor of Mr. Jack Janik of the Badger Meter Corporation. Jack was a founding member of the 4-H Foundation Board. It is given to the most outstanding applicant as determined by the scholarship panel. Jessica is a 10 year 4-H member. She has held secretary and historian club leadership positions and secretary for the Ozaukee Co. 4-H leaders Association. Jessica attended Space Camp, traveled on Citizen Washington Focus and American Spirit trips. She has helped at many parades, the haunt, Belgium Gardens, Bunny Breakfast, lemonade stands and brat fry’s. Jessica’s projects have included Beef, Art, Drawing and Painting, Cake decorating, photography, leathercraft and many more. Jessica has received Reserve Champion Beef, Grand Champion and Reserve Champion for Art and Drawing and painting, Outstanding Award for Cake Decorating , Honorable Mention for Wire Bending and State Fair for recycling projects. Jessica’s community involvement includes High Honor Roll, Lettering Academic Excellence, Lettering in Choir, Youth Leadership award and Youth Business Award. 4-H has allowed Jessica to experience different cultures and groups of people. While on some of her trips she was able to have conversations that exposed her to different walks of life which built her empathy and understanding towards others. She has learned how to be a tough worker and not to shy away from a challenge. All these life skills will go on to help Jessica excel in her career. Amy Hoffmann – 2021 Recipient
The recipient of the 2021 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation S. Duane Stroebel Scholarship for $1,225 is Amy Hoffmann of Lakeview 4-H Club. Her parents are Jerry and Kate Hoffmann. This scholarship is given in memory of Mr. S. Duane Stroebel. Mr. Stroebel was an agricultural enthusiast and an ardent supporter of the Ozaukee County 4-H program. It is to be given to an outstanding candidate who exemplifies the values of the 4-H program. Amy certainly fits the bill! Amy is a 13-year member of the Lakeview 4-H Club. She has been involved with the Horse and Pony project, Scrapbooking, Horse Youth Leadership, Vet Science and many more. She has held several leadership positions including, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, chaired the Flag Day Parade Committee and Advocates Committee. She was able to travel to Space Camp. Amy is very involved with the Horse and Pony project, which has helped build her communication and teamwork skills. In addition to numerous community service activities with her club, Amy has been active in Cross Country, National Honor Society, and Student Council. Amy will be completing the Agriculture Transfer program at Black Hawk College and then attend a 4 year university to obtain her bachelor’s degree in ag-business. Well done, Amy! Katelyn Poull – 2021 Recipient
The recipient of the 2021 Richard and Diane Omdahl Family Scholarship for $1,225 is given to Katelyn Poull of the Jay Road 4-H Club. Her parents are Robert and Debbie Poull. Diane Omdahl believes that the 4-H program is what has helped shape her life, the lives of her daughters and grandsons. Diane and her late husband Richard established this family scholarship to give back to the 4-H program that helps so many. Katelyn is a 13 year member of the Jay Road 4-H Club. She has been Club President, Vice President, Games Committee and Youth leader for the Horse and Pony Project. Katelyn’s projects have included Horse and Pony, Home Environment, Photography, Wildlife Ecology, Art and many more. Katelyn has participated in many county wide activities such as the Bowl-a-thon, 4-H Dance, 4-H Camp, and State Horse bowl. Outside of 4-H, Katelyn has been involved in Band, Choir, School musical, Forensics, and Cross country. Katelyn will be pursuing a career in Engineering. Emilee Thiede – 2021 Recipient
The newest scholarship comes from the State Bank of Newburg. The recipient of the 2021 State Bank of Newburg Scholarship for $1,225 is given to Emilee Thiede of Cloverleaf 4-H Club. Her parents are Todd and DeAnn Thiede. The State Bank of Newburg takes pride in the community it serves. Not only are they committed to providing excellent customer service inside their doors, but they extend that service into the community as seen by this scholarship. Emilee is a 9 year 4-H member of Cloverleaf 4-H Club. Emilee has been Secretary and Vice President. She has taken Dairy, Foods, Photography, Vet Science, Beef, Clothing, Drawing, Writing, Soap Making, Quilting and many more projects. She has attended State 4-H Youth Conference and Dairy Camp. She was Miss Ozaukee in 2020. Outside of 4-H she is involved in Volleyball and Softball. Since she was 5, she has always dreamed of becoming a Veterinarian/Vet Tech, as the years have passed she has realize that dream is not going to change. Emilee will be attending UW River Falls majoring in Animal Companion Science and minoring in Large Animal Vet Science. Congratulations Emilee on being the first recipient of the State Bank of Newburg Scholarship.
Caleb Gierach – 2021 Recipient
Caleb Gierach is awarded the 2021 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $1,125. This scholarship is made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation. Caleb is a 9-year 4-H member of Lindenwood 4-H Club. His parents are Bob and Amy Gierach. He has served as his club’s Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Historian. He was Mr. Ozaukee in 2020, and a youth director on the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation board. He has been chosen for trips to Citizen Washington Focus, American Spirit East, Space Camp and Wisconsin youth conference. As a youth leader he has learned how to give younger members instructions, tips and advice to help them avoid mistakes he has made. His projects include Woodworking, leathercraft, Youth leadership, shotgun, Air rifle, and welding. Outside of 4-H, he is involved in Church Acolyte, Church Historical Society, Male Choir, and Adopt a Highway. Caleb will be pursuing a certification in welding. Alexis Kurlinski – 2021 Recipient
Alexis Kurlinski is awarded the 2021 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $1,125. This scholarship is made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation. Alexis is a 10-year 4-H member of Lakeview 4-H Club. Her parents are Brian and Amanda Kurlinski. She has been President and Secretary for her club. She has been involved with the Bowl a thon, Community service, camp counselor and the haunt. A sampling of her projects includes Beef, Dairy, Horse and Pony, Ceramics, Drawing and Painting and many more. Outside of 4-H, she has been involved with Volleyball, and Soccer. 4 -H has helped Alexis experience many animal projects that have opened up her passion for animals even more. She will be attending UW River Falls majoring in Animal Science. Best wishes, Alexis as you continue your education!
Anastasia Poull – 2020 Recipient
The recipient of the 2020 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Badger Meter Scholarship for $1,450 is Anastasia Poull of the Jay Road 4-H Club. Her parents are Debra and Robert Poull. This scholarship was the first to be established by the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation and was given in honor of Mr. Jack Janik of the Badger Meter Corporation. Jack was a founding member of the 4-H Foundation Board. It is given to the most outstanding applicant as determined by the scholarship panel. Anastasia is a 13 year 4-H member. She has held president, vice president and historian club leadership positions. She was a youth director on the 4-H foundation board, Camp youth director, horse and pony youth board member and youth leader for many different projects. In 2017 Anastasia was Miss Ozaukee 4-H . Anastasia attended Space Camp, traveled on Citizen Washington Focus and American Spirit trips. She has helped at Belgium Gardens Nursing Home, Bunny Breakfast, was a camp counselor, and Coordinator for the Horseless Horse, Cloverbuds, and Exploring Projects. Anastasia’s projects have included Horse and Pony, Bee Keeping, Vet Science, Wildlife Ecology, Wisconsin Agriculture, Shotgun, Archery, .22/Rifle, Drawing and Painting, Home Environment, Scrapbooking, Photography and many more. Anastasia has received the 4-H Key Award, Business Award, Outstanding Award, Honorable Mention, and State Horse and Pony Showmanship award. Anastasia community involvement includes National Honor Society, choir, band, forensics, pandemonium, german club, Rotary club, adopt a grandparent and swing dance. Anastasia believes that her experiences in 4-H has helped her grow as an individual, as a leader, and have developed more life skill than she ever thought she could. 4-H has always encouraged her to push beyond what she previously thought was possible. Anastasia is currently attending South Dakota State University, where she is majoring in Animal Science, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Leadership, and Minoring in Communication studies and Sociology. Olivia Aschebrook – 2020 Recipient
The recipient of the 2020 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation S. Duane Stroebel Scholarship for $1,175 is Olivia Aschebrook of Town and Country 4-H Club. Her father is Dan Aschebrook. This scholarship is given in memory of Mr. S. Duane Stroebel. Mr. Stroebel was an agricultural enthusiast and an ardent supporter of the Ozaukee County 4-H program. It is to be given to an outstanding candidate who exemplifies the values of the 4-H program. Olivia certainly fits the bill! Olivia is a 13-year member of the Town and Country 4-H Club. She was a youth leader for 6 of the 12 projects she was involved in, including Air Rifle, Archery, .22, Shotgun, Photography and co-chair activity leader. She was the secretary for the Horse and Pony project. She was able to travel on the American Spirit Trip and the 4-H International Youth Exchange to Costa Rica. Olivia is very involved with Shooting Sports project and has competed at the 4-H National Air Pistol Competition, 4-H National Air Rifle Competition, Tri-County Shoot, Brown County Shoot, Shawano County Shoot, NRA Sectionals Shoot and many more. In addition to numerous community service activities with her club, Olivia has been active in the Living Word Lutheran High School drama department, field hockey, softball, and volleyball. Philip Paulus – 2020 Recipient
The recipient of the 2020 Richard and Diane Omdahl Family Scholarship for $1,175 is given to Philip Paulus of the Waubeka 4-H Club. His parents are Marie and Gary Paulus. Diane Omdahl believes that the 4-H program is what has helped shape her life, the lives of her daughters and grandsons. Diane and her late husband Richard established this family scholarship to give back to the 4-H program that helps so many. Philip is an 11 year member of the Waubeka 4-H Club. He has been Club President, Treasurer and youth leader for Leathercraft. Philip’s projects have included Archery, Leathercraft, Legos, Ceramics, Woodworking, Robotics, RC Cars, and many more. Philip has participated in many county wide activities such as The Haunt, 4-H Camp, Communications Festival, Variety Show, Tri-County Shoot and was Mr. Ozaukee 4-H in 2019. Philip was able to travel to Wisconsin 4-H Youth Conference, American Spirit- Eastern and Western States, and Citizen Washington Focus. Outside of 4-H, Philip has been involved in baseball, wrestling, bowling club, and the robotics team with Ozaukee High School. Natalie Batzko – 2020 Recipient
Natalie Batzko is awarded the 2020 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $ 900. This scholarship is made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Foundation. Natalie is a 10-year 4-H member of Town and Country 4-H Club. Her parents are Barb Batzko and John Batzko. Natalie has been a Youth leader in Photography and Dairy. She also served as her club’s Secretary and Reporter. She has been involved in Ringing Bell for Salvation Army, Thanksgiving Dinner for Advocates, and Winter Fest. Taylor Stewart is awarded the 2020 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $900. His parents are Bryan and Erin Stewart. Taylor is currently Mr. Ozaukee 4-H 2020. Taylor is a youth leader in the Poultry project. He has been greatly involved in The Haunt, starting as a ghoulie when younger, an actor when older, and now being on the planning committee. MacKenna Schueller is awarded the 2020 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $900. This scholarship is made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation. MacKenna is a 10-year 4-H member of Holy Cross 4-H Club. Her parents are Micca and Keith Schueller. MacKenna has been a youth leader in the Swine project. She also served as her Club’s Secretary. She has been involved in the disabled youth swine show, ringing bell for Salvation Army, and bingo at area nursing homes. A sampling of MacKenna’s projects includes Swine, Dairy, Home Environment, Medical Science, and Art’s and Crafts. Outside of 4-H, she is involved in student council, medical club and spanish club. MacKenna says the 4-H program has allowed her to expand her horizons, showed her what hard work is, and the value of money. Rebecca Dowe – 2019 Recipient
The recipient of the 2019 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Badger Meter Scholarship for $1,600 is Rebecca Dowe of the Knellsville 4-H Club. Her parents are Friedrich and Susan Dowe. This scholarship was the first established by the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation and was given in honor of Mr. Jack Janik of the Badger Meter Corporation, a founding member of the 4-H Foundation board. It is given to the most outstanding applicant as determined by the scholarship panel. Rebecca is a 10 year 4-H member. She has held all of the club leadership positions. She served as the Vice President of the Leader’s Board for 2 years. She has been a camp counselor at the 4-H Arts Camp, volunteer at the Jack-o-Lantern Jamboree, Big buddy, cashier at the brat fry, face painting at Cops 4 Kids, helped with the Bunny Breakfast and helped with the 4-H Haunt. Rebecca attended Madison Youth Conference, traveled on Citizen Washington Focus and American Spirit trips. She will be traveling in to Japan for the International 4H Youth Exchange this summer. Rebecca projects have included Flowers, Music, Sewing, Drawing and Painting, Graphic Design, Photography, Dance, Scrapbooking, Vet Science, Bee Keeping and Horticulture. Rebecca’s community involvement includes participation in her church, as a teacher assistant for Sunday School, and narrating the Christmas program. She dances ballet, pointe, and jazz. She also performed a solo routine in the nutcracker this year. She is on the Key Club with school. Rebecca believes that her experiences in 4-H have guided her to her decision by showing what her past interests would translate to in the real world. Rebecca will be attending Carthage College in the fall, where she plans to major in Physics, with emphasis on our planet and solar system. This scholarship is given in memory of Mr. S. Duane Stroebel. Mr. Stroebel was an agricultural enthusiast and an ardent supporter of the Ozaukee County 4-H program. It is to be given to an outstanding candidate who exemplifies the values of the 4-H program. Taylor certainly fits the bill! Taylor is a 12-year member of the Little Kohler 4-H Club. Some examples of her leadership experience include: Club Vice-President, Club Historian/Reporter, as well as 6 years as a project Youth Leadership. She became the OCHPP Equine Ambassador in 2017-2018. Taylor’s projects have included Horse and Pony, Photography, Drawing and Painting, Art, Model Horse, Youth Leader, Scrapbooking and Leather Craft. Taylor has had a large involvement with the Horse project which has impacted her career choice. She served as youth leader in the Dog and Goat projects. She has been a camp counselor for three years, co-chair of the Communications Festival, coordinated her club’s variety show act, was a 4-H Leaders Association Board youth representative, and served on the Bunny Breakfast Committee. Mackenzie held officer positions on the Older Youth Crew, attended 4-H at the Capitol, was a Space Camp counselor, and traveled on the American Spirit and Citizen Washington Focus trips. She also represented 4-H as Miss Ozaukee, 2017. Mackenzie’s projects have included Dogs, Goats, Archery, Photography, Scrapbooking, Communications, Cake Decorating, Sports, Drawing and Painting, and Snowmobile/ATV. Mackenzie’s community involvement includes participation in her church, as well as singing with the Milwaukee Children’s choir and the Cedarburg Glee Club. She is a student athlete, a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Mackenzie believes that her experiences in 4-H have given her independence and strength. Judging from her extensive list of accomplishments, we couldn’t agree more! This scholarship is given in memory of Mr. S. Duane Stroebel. Mr. Stroebel was an agricultural enthusiast and an ardent supporter of the Ozaukee County 4-H program. It is to be given to an outstanding candidate who exemplifies the values of the 4-H program. Sarah certainly fits the bill! Sarah is a 13-year member of the Lindenwood 4-H Club. Some examples of her leadership experience include: Club President, Club Treasurer, and Club Historian/Reporter, as well as 5 years of project Youth Leadership. She served as an alternate on the 4-H Leaders Association board, and was an active, contributing Youth Leader on the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Board. Sarah was Miss Ozaukee Runner-up for 2017. She has also served on a number committees over the years at the club and county levels. Some of Sarah’s projects have included Photography, Crocheting, Home Environment, Woodworking, Quilting, Clothing, Foods and Nutrition, Sheep, Scrapbooking, History and Heritage, and Stencil Painting. In addition to numerous community service activities with her club, Sarah has been very active in her church, was a Badger Girls State Delegate, and was a Honor Flight volunteer for 6 years. Sarah will pursue college in the fall and is still weighing options regarding her major. Tanya Zarling – 2018 Recipient
The recipient of the Richard and Diane Omdahl Family Scholarship for $1,100 is given to Tanya Zarling of the Lindenwood 4-H Club. Her parents are John and Nichole Zarling. Richard and Diane Omdahl believe that the 4-H program is what has helped shape the lives of their children and they wish to give back to the program through this named scholarship. Tanya is a ten-year member of the Lindenwood 4-H Club. She has been a Health Youth Leader for the last 6 years, and a Child Development Youth Leader for the last 4 years. She has been very active in her club and heavily involved in community service work. Tanya’s projects have included Swine, Health, Child Development, Drawing and Painting, Beef, Woodworking, Veterinary Science, and Candle Making. Outside of 4-H, Tanya has been an active volunteer for the Cedarburg Fire Department since 2013 and is currently an Explorer Lieutenant. She has volunteered at McKinley Place, and is also a swim and wellness instructor. She is currently pursuing her EMT certification. Tanya believes 4-H creates a safe environment and a sense of belonging for everyone. Tanya will be studying nursing, with an end goal of becoming a mental health nurse for children and adolescents. Hannah is a 12-year 4-H member and is currently a member of the Lakeview 4-H club. Her parents are Dina and Greg Bell. Hannah has been a Youth Leader for 6 years in Scrapbooking, and in Poultry for 2 years. She also served as her club’s President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. She has been a delegate to the 4-H Youth Conference, attended 4-H Camp, and traveled on the American Spirit and Citizen Washington Focus trips. Christopher Mueller – 2018 Recipient
Christopher Mueller is awarded an Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $900. This scholarship is made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Foundation. Chris is a 10-year member of the Little Kohler 4-H Club. His parents are Donald and Paula Mueller. Christopher’s leadership experience includes serving as Club Secretary and Club Reporter. He has also been a Swine Youth Leader for 4 years. He has received his club’s Outstanding Achievement Award for 7 years and has participated in community service and fundraising activities at the club and county levels. Christopher’s projects included Swine, Home Environment, Vegetables, Woodworking, Pottery, Sports, and Drawing and Painting. Outside of 4-H, Christopher is serving as Vice President of his school chapter of the National Honor Society, in which he has been a member for 3 years. He serves as a Freshman mentor and received the Elks Student of the Month award. He was selected as a delegate to Badger Boys State. Christopher believes 4-H has enabled him to gain independence, a trait he feels he can share with other youth as well. Christopher plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – Madison to pursue a career in actuarial science. We wish him well in attaining his career goals!
Jessica Schoessow – 2017 Recipient
The recipient of the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Badger Meter Scholarship for $1,300 is Jessica Schoessow of the Lindenwood 4-H Club. Her parents are Kurt and Cary Schoessow. This scholarship was the first established by the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation and was given in honor of Mr. Jack Janik of the Badger Meter Corporation, a founding member of the 4-H Foundation board. It is given to the most outstanding applicant as determined by the scholarship panel. Jessica is a ten-year 4-H member who has held just about every leadership position in her club, as well as leadership roles in various projects and extra-curricular activities. Some of her projects include Beef, Auctioneering, Leathercraft, Archery, Photography, and Drawing and Painting. She was Miss Ozaukee 2016, a camp counselor, an Ambassador, and the first youth Vice President of the Ozaukee County 4-H Leaders Association. She has been a Madison Youth Conference delegate, as well as a delegate for the American Spirit and Citizenship Washington Focus trips. Jessica has been very involved in the 4-H Beef project, winning Reserve Champion 3 times. She participated at the State Fair in the Jr. Livestock Show, and performed on the Wisconsin State Fair Activity Stage numerous times. Outside of 4-H, Jessica is a member of the Pommersche Tanzdeel Freistadt (Freistadt German Dance Group), and is involved in the Homestead High School Drama Club. She is a member of the Homestead Track Team, works part time, and is very active in her church. The recipient of the Richard and Diane Omdahl Family Scholarship for $1,000 is given to Ella Hoerchner of the Town & Country 4-H Club. Her parents are Jim and Sheri Hoerchner. Richard and Diane Omdahl believe that the 4-H program is what has helped shape the lives of their children and they wish to give back to the program through this named scholarship. Ella is an eleven-year member of the Town & Country 4-H Club. Some of her many projects over the years include Swine, Dairy, Shotgun, Auctioneering, Cake Decorating, Celebrate Art, Quilting, Home Environment, and Basketry. In 2014, she was a Miss Ozaukee delegate. Some of her leadership roles include project youth leader, camp counselor, Miss Ozaukee 4-H delegate, Jr. Camp Director, and Leaders Association Youth Representative. In 2017, she was chosen to attend the Citizenship Washington Focus – Presidential Inauguration. Outside of 4-H, Ella is active in her church as a singer, and in other ministries. She is a member of the National Honor Society. In addition to holding 2 part-time jobs, she was a member of her high school swim and track teams. Kevin Gierach – 2017 Recipient
The recipient of the 2017 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation S. Duane Stroebel Scholarship for $1,000 is Kevin Gierach of the Lindenwood 4-H Club. His parents are Bob and Amy Gierach. This scholarship is given in memory of Mr. S. Duane Stroebel. Mr. Stroebel was an agricultural enthusiast and an ardent supporter of the Ozaukee County 4-H program. Kevin is a ten-year member of the Lindenwood 4-H Club. He has been involved in Woodworking, Leathercraft, Archery, Small Engines, Foods & Nutrition, Sheep, and Dairy Beef, to name a few of his projects. From a club leadership perspective, Kevin has served as Vice President, Secretary, and Pledge Leader. Kevin has been a delegate to Citizenship Washington Focus, American Spirit, the State 4-H Youth Conference, and Space Camp. He was a Variety Show performer at the state level for 5 years, has participated in 4-H Day at the Capitol, as well as in the Ozaukee County 4-H Board Exchange. Outside of 4-H, Kevin is active in his church, serving as an usher, a singer in the male choir, and various other activities. He has also worked as a milking and crop employee at Rolling Meadow Farms. Kevin plans to attend Lakeshore Technical College to pursue a degree in Dairy Herd Management. Caitlyn McCombe – 2017 Recipient
Caitlyn McCombe is awarded an Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $900. This scholarship is made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Foundation. Caitlyn is a 5-year member of the Covered Bridge 4-H Club. Her parents are James and Lisa McCombe. Caitlyn has held various leadership positions in her club, including President and Youth General Leader. She has been chair of her club’s Variety Show Committee, where she served as a successful playwright. Her efforts enabled her club to achieve success at the Wisconsin State Fair, where her club’s skit was recognized as one of the top 10 acts at the fair. Caitlyn has also served as Youth Liaison to the Leaders Association, participating on the Banquet, Fundraising, and Projects committees. She has been active in the Ozaukee County 4-H Board Exchange and has volunteered for several activities like Breakfast on the Farm, The Clover Café, and parking cars at the county fair. Outside of 4-H, Caitlyn volunteers at the Mequon Nature Preserve, is a minute-taker for the Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce, and is active in her church in various roles such as Summer Camp Leader, and as a Children’s Ministry Intern. Maria Tischer – 2017 Recipient
Maria Tischer is awarded an Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $900. This scholarship is made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Foundation. Maria has been a member of the Lindenwood 4-H Club since 2009. Her parents are Todd and Luda Tischer. Some of Maria’s projects include Leathercraft, Foods & Nutrition, Scrapbooking, Genealogy, Woodworking, Jewelry Making, and Photography. She has been a youth leader in the Vegetable, Foods, and Music projects. Maria was a delegate to the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Conference. She performed piano solos for several years in the 4-H Variety Show, and performed at the State Fair in the Large Group Act category for 4 years. Outside of 4-H, Maria was active on her high school’s Varsity Field Hockey team, was a dance choreographer for the school musical, and held summer jobs as a life guard and swim instructor. She is a member of Die Pommersche Tanszdeel Freistadt (German Folk Dance Group), a member of the National Honor Society, and participated in many community service events. Maria has a desire to help people stay healthy and live better lives, and plans to study dentistry in college. Congratulations Maria on being awarded a 2017 Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Scholarship!
Virginia Lee – 2016 Recipient
The recipient of the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Badger Meter Scholarship for $1,300 is Virginia Lee of the Lindenwood 4-H Club. Her parents are Richard and Deanna Lee. This scholarship is given to the most outstanding applicant as determined by the scholarship committee. This scholarship was the first established by the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation and was given in honor of Mr. Jack Janik of the Badger Meter Corporation, a founding member of the 4-H Foundation board. Virginia has been in 4-H since joining Cloverbuds as a young girl. Her club leadership experience includes roles from pledge leader to president. She has held multiple project youth leader roles, has been active in numerous county and state-level activities, was an avid summer camp counselor/youth director, and supports her community through volunteerism. Some of her projects have included Dairy, Photography, Leathercraft, Shotgun, Automotive, and auctioneering. Virginia has been a delegate for various 4-H sponsored trips, including American Spirit, Citizen Washington focus, Space Camp, and the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Conference. Outside of 4-H, Virginia is active in her school as an athlete and National Honor Society Officer, and also participates as a volunteer at her church. Virginia will be attending the University of Wisconsin River Falls, majoring in Agricultural Engineering, with a minor in Spanish. Gabby Gventer – 2016 Recipient
The recipient of the Richard and Diane Omdahl Family Scholarship for $1,000 is given to Gabby Gventer of the Cloverleaf 4-H Club. Her parents are John and Karen Gventer. Richard and Diane Omdahl believe that the 4-H program is what has helped shape the lives of their children and they wish to give back to the program through this named scholarship. Gabby is an 8 year member of the Cloverleaf 4-H club. She has held a number of leadership roles, some of which include Dairy Youth Leader, Cloverbud Youth Leader, Space Camp Counselor, 4-H Ambassador, Arts Camp Counselor/Director and Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Youth Board Member. If it’s 4-H related, Gabby is probably there! Projects she has taken over the years include Photography, Native Plants, Decorating, Environment, Archery, etc. She represented 4-H as Miss Ozaukee 2015. She is very active in her club’s community service opportunities, like Make a Difference Day, Grafton Flower Bed, and Family Sharing Holiday Gift Giving. She also volunteers for the 4-H Haunt & Jamboree. Gabby participated at the state level in various arts programs. She has been awarded a number of trips, including the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Conference, American Spirit, Citizen Washington Focus, and Space Camp/Advanced Space Camp, returning as a counselor. She is very active outside 4-H, working at Lasata Care Center, volunteering at her church, is active in many school extra-curricular activities, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Gabby plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, with a goal of working for NASA as an Aeronautical Engineer. Congratulations Gabby, on receiving the 2016 Omdahl Scholarship!
Gabrielle Batzko – 2016 Recepient
The recipient of the 2016 Ozaukee County 4- H Foundation S. Duane Stroebel Scholarship for $1,000 is Gabrielle Batzko of the Town & Country 4-H Club. Her parents are John and Barbara Batzko. This scholarship is given in memory of Mr. S. Duane Stroebel. Mr. Stroebel was an agricultural enthusiast and a strong supporter of the Ozaukee County 4-H program. As an 11 year member of Town & Country 4-H club, Gabrielle has served in a number of club leadership positions, including club president and vice president. She is a long time member of her club’s dairy project, as well as Scrapbooking, Cake Decorating, Music, Drawing and Painting, Auctioneering, as well as many others. She attended Space Camp as a delegate, then counselor. Gabrielle has been an active leader in Older Youth, along with a number of Dog Project leader roles. She works with special needs children through the Special Olympics program and the 4-H Together We Can program. She is active in her church as a musician, and works at the Lasata Care center. Her future plans include studying Sustainable Development with a concentration in Agro-ecology and Sustainable Agriculture. She will minor in economics. Congratulations, Gabrielle!
Sharla Boehlke – 2016 Recepient
Sharla has been awarded an Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $900. This scholarship is made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Foundation. Sharla is a ten year member of the Little Kohler 4-H Club. Her parents are Royal and Linda Boehlke. She has been a youth leader in Ceramics and Beef, and has been her club’s Treasurer and President. Some of her projects include Beef, Swine, Ceramics, Foods and Nutrition, Auctioneering, and Home Environment. She has attended the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Conference, and has been active in the Haunt, Livestock Association, Bunny Breakfast activities, to name a few. She is an employee at Mink Creek Farms, and is active in her church and community. Sharla plans to study Agriculture Economics at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Melinda Knepprath – 2016 Recepient
Melinda Knepprath has been awarded an Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $900. This scholarship is made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Foundation. Melinda is an 11 year member of the Town & Country 4-H club. Her parents are Roger and Sheila Knepprath. Her many leadership roles include Club President and Archery Youth Leadership, and she represented Ozaukee County 4-H as Miss Ozaukee 2014. Her projects have included Exploring, Ceramics, Foods and Nutrition, Leathercraft, Archery, Shotgun, Music and Photography, and a number of others. She was selected as a delegate to the Wisconsin Youth Conference, Citizen Washington Focus, and American Spirit. She was very involved at both the county and state level, as well as in non 4-H activities in her church and community. Melinda currently attends the University of Wisconsin – Stout, studying Graphic Design & Interactive Media. She is also working towards a minor in Business Administration.
Natalie Niehueser – 2016 Recepient
Natalie Niehueser has been awardsed an Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $900. This scholarship is made possible by donations recieved from the many benefactors of the Foundation. Natalie is a 10 year member of the Cloverleaf 4-H Club. Her parents are Robert and Dorena Niehueser. Her club leadership includes roles as Vice-President, Secretary, Historian and Volleyball Coach. At the county level she has been a 4-H Ambassador, variety show performer, Haunt volunteer, and participant in a number of community service and fundraising activities. She has represented Ozaukee County at the State Fair Clothing Review, the State Fair Variety Show, as well as singing at the State Fair. Outside of 4-H, she is active as a volunteer in her church, in sports and student government at her school, and in leadership at YMCA’s Camp Minikani. Her future plans include study in the field of Aeronautical Science.
Rachel Gierach- 2015 Recipient
The recipient of the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation Badger Meter Scholarship for $1,300 is Rachel Gierach of the Lindenwood 4-H Club. Her parents are Robert and Amy Gierach. This scholarship is given to the most outstanding applicant as determined by the scholarship committee. This scholarship was the first established by the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation and was given in honor of Mr. Jack Janik of the Badger Meter Corporation, a founding member of the 4-H Foundation board. Rachel is a ten year 4-H member, and has held roles as pledge leader, secretary, treasurer, and president in her club. In addition to being a youth leader in the Quilting Project for 7 years, she has also been involved in projects from Foods and Nutrition, Photography, and Auctioneering to Home Environment, Veterinary Science, and Sheep, just to name a few! She has participated on a number of committees within her club, and has also been a leader at the county level as a Leader’s Association board member and as a youth representative on the Livestock Association Board. Rachel has been a delegate on the Citizenship Washington Focus and American Spirit trips. She has co-chaired the county Communications Festival, and worked with a team that wrote the 4-H Centennial Resolution recognized by the Ozaukee County Board. Outside of 4-H, Rachel is active in her church as a musician, Sunday School Teacher, and Vacation Bible School Leader. Rachel will be attending Concordia University to pursue a major in education, as well as a minor in either mathematics or science. Patrick Curran- 2015 Recipient
The recipient of the Richard and Diane Omdahl Family Scholarship for $1,000 is given to Patrick Curran of the Lindenwood 4-H Club. His parent is Wendy Porterfield. Richard and Diane Omdahl believe that the 4-H program is what has helped shape the lives of their children and they wish to give back to the program through this named scholarship. Some of the projects Patrick has been involved in include Photography, Small Engines, Computers, Electricity, Adventures, Water, Canoeing, and Sport Fishing. His club leadership roles have included the offices of Vice President, as well as Reporter/Historian. He has been a delegate on trips such as Citizenship Washington Focus, American Spirit, Space Camp, and Wisconsin 4-H Youth Conference. He also participated in the 4-H Day at the Capitol, as well as Advanced Space Camp. Patrick has been an active community service participant, has served as a 4-H Camp Counselor, and has been an enthusiastic actor for the 4-H Haunt. Outside of 4-H, Patrick serves as an Auxiliary Police Officer, is involved in a number of school sports, and is active in his church. He is also a volunteer worker at the Rivoli Theater on a monthly basis. Patrick plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – Stout campus, studying Professional Communication and Emerging Media, with an applied Journalism focus. Joseph Fugate- 2015 Recipient
The recipient of the 2015 Ozaukee County 4- H Foundation S. Duane Stroebel Scholarship for $1,000 is Joseph Fugate of the Knellsville 4-H Club. His parents are Tom and Jean Fugate. This scholarship is given in memory of Mr. S. Duane Stroebel. Mr. Stroebel was an agricultural enthusiast and a strong supporter of the Ozaukee County 4-H program. As a longtime member of the Knellsville 4-H club, Joe has been involved in many projects from Self Determined to Insects, and also has been a youth Leader in Dairy, Arts and Crafts, and Legos. He has led or participated on countless club committees, and has held club leadership positions of Secretary and Treasurer. He has achieved many awards in the Dairy project, and has worked on a number of club and county fundraisers, as well as the annual Ozaukee County Dairy Breakfast. Outside of 4-H, Joe is an active volunteer in his church, mentoring youth and serving on various teams. He is active in high school athletics, and has served as captain of multiple teams. Joe will be a starter for his college football team. He is a member of the National Honor Society, and has helped with a number of school community service activities. Joe will attend the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, with an undeclared major, but with interests in a business-related career. Congratulations Joe, on being awarded the S. Brian Mueller- 2015 Recipient
Brian Mueller has been awarded the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarships in the amount of $900 each. These scholarships are made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Foundation. Brian is a ten year member of the Little Kohler 4-H Club. Brian’s parents are Donald and Paula Mueller. Brian has served as Club Treasurer for 3 years, and has been a youth leader in the Swine project for many years. He has had the Grand Champion hog, and has won swine showmanship several times. Brian has attended the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Leadership Conference, and has been an active community service participant. He has worked on The 4-H Haunt, and has participated in a number of county-level fundraisers. Brian is very active in his club, and has been recognized with the 4-H Achievement Award multiple times. Outside of 4-H Brian has been successful in sports, has been a Badger Boy’s State representative, and does volunteer work for his church, and has participated in a number of community fundraisers. Brian currently attends The Milwaukee School of Engineering, and is pursuing a degree in Architectural Engineering and Construction Management.
Aaron Rathke- 2015 Recipient
Aaron Rathke has been awarded the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarships in the amount of $900 each. These scholarships are made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Foundation. Aaron is a 10 year member of the Little Kohler 4-H Club. Aaron’s parents are Steve and Jackie Rathke. Aaron’s project work includes Photography, Drawing and Painting, Woodworking, Leather Craft, and Beef. He has been a youth leader in the Beef Project. Aaron has held the offices of President, Vice President, and Treasurer for his club. He has participated on a number of community service initiatives and fundraisers at both the club and county level, some of which include the 4-H Haunt, the 4-H Clover Café, Livestock fundraisers, and the Foundation Bowl-a-Thon. He has been a State Fair Exhibitor for Beef. Outside of 4-H, Aaron has been involved in a number of high school sports, and has held leadership positions as Class Officer and in FFA. He is a member of the National Honor Society. Aaron will study Physical Education or Sports Management in college.
Kimberly Mueller- 2015 Recipient
Kimberly Mueller has been awarded the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarships in the amount of $900 each. These scholarships are made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Foundation. Kim is a nine year member of the Little Kohler 4-H Club. Her parents are David and Kelly Mueller. Kimberly has held the position of Club Treasurer, and is teaching younger members the skills necessary to fulfil that role. She has been a camp counselor for three years, leading and mentoring younger campers. Kimberly has participated in the annual Variety Show, and has coached Little Kohler’s volleyball team. She has won Grand Champion Dairy Beef Steer, and received the State Fair Award for one of her project drawings. She has participated in a number of community service opportunities at the club and county levels. Outside of 4-H, a few of the activities in which Kimberly is involved include high school Forensics, Music, the Student Council, National Honor Society, Cheerleading, and the Freshman Mentor Program. Kimberly will double-major in Secondary Education and Accounting at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. She intends to pursue a career in teaching business education at the high school level.

This scholarship is given to the most outstanding applicant as determined by the scholarship committee. This scholarship was the first established by the Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation and was given in honor of Mr. Jack Janik of the Badger Meter Corporation, a founding member of the 4-H Foundation board.
In the years Joseph has been in 4-H, he has been involved in many projects and activities. Some of his projects include: Exploring, Archery, Foods & Nutrition, RC Cars, Shotgun, Cake decorating, etc. He has received the Outstanding Achievement Award multiple times, and has been a Space Camp counselor, an Arts Camp Counselor, a 4-H Ambassador, has been a member of the State 4-H Drama Company, and has been very active at the Wisconsin State Fair. In addition to being a youth leader in multiple projects, he has served as president and treasurer of his club, and has received numerous special awards and recognition for his fair projects. Joseph recently traveled to the state capitol to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of 4-H in Wisconsin. It was his honor to give a speech to one of our state representatives about the value of the 4-H program. Outside of 4-H, Joseph has done volunteer work for the Ozaukee campus of the Wisconsin Humane Society. He is a peer leader at his church for youth lock-ins, and has been a Vacation Bible School leader, as well as a volunteer working with disabled children at Balance, Inc. Joe has been named to and is active in the National Honor Society. Joseph will be attending the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. 4-H has heavily influenced his chosen field of study, which is Environmental Education. Calvin Brice- 2014 Recipient
The recipient of the Richard and Diane Omdahl Family Scholarship for $1,300 is given to Calvin Brice of the Town and Country 4-H Club. His parents are Kevin and Theresa Brice.
Richard and Diane Omdahl believe that the 4-H program is what has helped shape the lives of their children and they wish to give back to the program through this named scholarship.
Some of the projects Calvin has been involved in include Sheep, Dogs, Foods and Nutrition, Archery, RC Cars and RC Airplanes, Poultry, etc. He has been a youth leader, has participated in the Spring Communications Festival, and has received his club’s Outstanding Achievement award. He has served as president and treasurer of his club, and organized a number of club activities, including creation of his club’s banner that is now displayed annually in the Ozaukee Pavilion during the run of fair. Calvin is a very involved camp counselor, and also participated in the Mr. & Miss Ozaukee contest.
Outside of 4-H, Calvin enjoys a variety of sports, shares his musical talent at his church, has been a member of the Ozaukee Regional Chess Association, and has helped develop a youth leadership program that enabled students to improve their public speaking, presentation and leadership skills. Calvin plans to attend UW-Washington County to begin studies in Mechanical Engineering. Congratulations Calvin, on being selected to receive the 2014 Richard and Diane Omdahl Family Scholarship!
Nick Gall- 2014 Recipient
The recipient of the 2014 Ozaukee County 4- H Foundation S. Duane Stroebel Scholarship for $1,300 is Nick Gall of the Town and Country 4-H Club. His father is the late Jeff Gall, his mother is Terry Gall-Proefrock, and his step-father is Steve Proefrock. This scholarship is given in memory of Mr. S. Duane Stroebel. Mr. Stroebel was an agricultural enthusiast and a strong supporter of the Ozaukee County 4-H program.
In his ten years as a 4-H member, Nick has been involved in the Swine, Archery, Shooting Sports, Woodworking, Wildlife Ecology, and Sport fishing projects. He has been active as a youth leader, and has won numerous awards for his project work in Ecology, Woodworking and Shotgun. As a youth leader, he takes pride in helping younger kids improve their skills and teaching them what he has learned. He has been active in his club, serving as secretary, and has been involved in both group and solo acts in the 4-H Variety Show. He has been a camp counselor at the annual Upham Woods camp.
Outside of 4-H, Nick volunteers at his church, singing in their Praise Band and choir. He is a member of the National Honor Society, and holds outside jobs at two separate farms. 4-H has helped Nick further his love for the outdoors and nature, and he will study Natural Resources and Wildlife Management at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. Connor Newell- 2014 Recipient
The winner of an Ozaukee County 4-H Foundation scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is Connor Newell of the Lindenwood 4-H Club. Connor’s parents are Larry and Debra Newell.
This scholarship is made possible by donations received from the many benefactors of the Foundation.
Connor’s projects throughout his 4-H career have included Exploring, Photography, Woodworking, Bicycle Adventure, RC Cars, Archery, Shotgun, Arts and Crafts, etc. He has won a number of awards for his project efforts. He has participated on numerous trips, such as American Spirit, Citizen Washington Focus, Wisconsin Youth Conference, and Space Camp. He is the reigning Mr. Ozaukee 4-H. Connor has served as a camp counselor and has been a youth leader in the Woodworking project. He has been President, Treasurer, and Pledge Leader for his club. He has received his club’s Outstanding Achievement award multiple times. He will travel to Norway through the IFYE program in the summer of 2014.
Outside of 4-H, Connor is an accomplished volleyball player, earning MVP and serving as team captain at school. He plays tuba in his high school band, and serves as section leader. He also holds a part-time job in addition to all of his other activities. Connor plans to study Engineering in college. Congratulations Connor, and best of luck as you proceed with higher education!
