Understanding Impact: An Introduction to Evaluating Nonprofit Programs

Nonprofit organizations do critical work everyday to provide service and support to those who need it most. For the people doing the work, it can be very easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind. Extension knows this and wants to help you and your organization understand the impact your organization has in the communities you serve. Join extension organizational development professionals for the five week virtual course, Understanding Impact: An Introduction to Evaluating Nonprofit Programs hosted by the Wisconsin Nonprofit Connect to Learn team.   

Designed for small nonprofits and people new to outcome evaluation, this five week series of webinars will equip participants with the tools and strategies needed to assess and communicate the effectiveness of their and services. Hosted over five sessions, participants will identify the outcomes they want their programs and services to achieve, develop a plan to evaluate effectiveness, and explore ways to communicate their organization’s impact to donors, community members, and partners. 

Through this course, you will:

  • Identify specific and measurable outcomes linked to community needs, and develop a simple theory of change for your organization.
  • Develop a plan for evaluating your organization’s desired outcomes, including specific evaluation methods and questions.
  • Identify strategies to communicate the impact of your organization’s efforts effectively.
  • Develop relationships with other nonprofit professionals to support your organization’s growth.
